Unlike many of you, my prom isn’t in May…it’s in March! There are about 40 days left to get ready!
Now that the reveal is done, prom is what everybody is talking about. Everybody is getting asked and trying to figure out what dress to wear. I love prom season. It’s fabulous! The entire build-up to prom is just a great feeling, stressful sometimes, but great.
Rumor has it that my boyfriend is going to ask me in his own cute way, and he has a specific date in mind. I can’t wait to tell you how he does it! Also, I think I might have found the perfect dress, actually dresses. My mom and I were just browsing promgirl.com, when we saw this gold dress that we both liked, something that rarely happens.
We did not want to let it go, because it was my size and I really loved it. Then we saw this green one, in a similar style, that my mom really liked.
We ended up ordering both. We are indecisive when it comes to things like dresses (you can never have too many, right?). It feels so early to be buying a dress, but then I realize I only have five more weekends until prom.
I am lucky that my best friend and I have already figured out the limo situation. We still have to decide on dinner and post-prom plans. I want to do something after prom that is safe and fun. If you have any ideas, please let me know!
The best thing about prom is I know it is going to be good, because either myself or my student council advisory board planned every detail! I don’t really have any worries except for the normal stresses of school, like papers and exams, but I can handle that. Thanks for all of your advice and help. I will be sure to keep you updated!
I finally decided on a college for next year! Drumroll, please…I am going to be going to Mizzou (University of Missouri) to major in Journalism! Yay for me! Haha! I’m glad that I finally figured out my post-high school plans, because it’s one less thing to worry about now. I can relax and enjoy the rest of my senior year.
So this week is Basketball Homecoming! It’s definitely one of the most fun weeks at my school. This year, our dance theme is Barbie. By Saturday, I have to come up with an idea of which Barbie I want to be for the dance. Any ideas? Since they make a Barbie for every occasion, we can pretty much dress up as anything! Plus, all week, we get to have special dress days at school, which is a pretty big deal because normally we wear uniforms. I will post some pictures next time from our spirit week and the dance.
After this week, the next dance everyone will be talking about is prom! Remember, at my school the juniors plan the senior prom. I might have to ask around and see what they have arranged so far. We always have it at the same place every year, so we don’t have a big unveiling like Amber’s school. The juniors just have to figure out the theme, book a DJ, and all that stuff.
Have a great week!!
We had our big basketball homecoming pep rally on Friday, and that is where we did our prom reveal. Everyone was dying to know where our junior prom would be. The location is….drum roll please….The Fabulous Fox Theatre in Downtown Atlanta!! It is going to be absolutely amazing and gorgeous — this is the ballroom where we’ll all be dancing the night away! (Photo Credit: Michael Portman) I’ll try to get the “Big Reveal” video we played for everyone posted soon. Now it’s time to sell tickets, which should not be a huge deal because everybody who is anybody wants to go to prom.

The search for my dress is really on now. On top of picking out a dress, I also have to pick out my boyfriend’s birthday present because his birthday is right before Valentine’s Day. If you have any suggestions, I am open!
Thanks for all the comments to my last post, because I think my boyfriend might have gotten the hint. If he does ask me to prom in a sweet way, I’ll share the details with you!
One of the perks of writing for MyPromStyle.com is the special little assignments I get to do. Interviewing Scott Michael Foster was the best so far, but I also got the chance to read the book series Once Upon A Prom before it even hit bookstores!
The books are about three best friends getting ready for prom. One is head of the prom committee, one is a cheerleader, and one has to deal with her really strict parents. So far, I have read “Dream,” the first one in the series. It’s all about the drama, problems, and excitement that goes along with prom. I thought it was pretty realistic about what happens around prom time, or at least in my life. Reading it made me think about my prom last year and made me excited for the senior prom coming up! The book is a quick read, so you can definitely squeeze it in with the classic novels you’re reading for Lit class. And it only costs six bucks on bn.com!
One last thing not related to the book…I am pretty pale and want to get tan for prom. What is the best and quickest way to get tan? I hate spending tons of money on tanning salons, but sometimes they seem like the best option. Have other suggestions for me?
The date situation is what I’m most worried about for prom. I have had a boyfriend for basically every dance before my senior year. I dated the same guy for all of sophomore year and junior year. I never once had to worry about who was going to ask me. Now, all I’m worried about is if someone will even ask! The last thing I want to do is go to my senior prom by myself. There’s nothing wrong with going solo, but I guess I’m just traditional.
I’ve dodged the date dilemma so far this year, because for homecoming we all just went as a group of friends. I couldn’t make it to the Christmas dance, so I didn’t worry about asking anyone. The spring dance is coming up, but it’s really chill and no one really takes dates. So that just leaves prom to worry about…
What further complicates things is the girl to boy ratio at my school. There are TONS of girls and not very many guys. A few of my friends will most definitely have to bring guys from other schools. I might have to do the same!
So for all the girls out there who are going to be worrying about their date situation…I feel your pain! However, if worst comes to worst, there is nothing wrong with going by yourself! There will most likely be someone else there who does not have a date. Actually, I guarantee there will be someone else without a date! But still, I know that even with saying all of that, I am going to freak out and start really stressing if I don’t have one close to prom! Have any advice for me?
3 months and a week till prom! Seems like forever…but it’s really not!
Question for you all: I have a boyfriend, and I know he is going to be my date, but does that mean he should still ask me? I am old-fashioned and I like the cute ways guys ask girls to prom. But since I already have an automatic date, does that mean it’s not really necessary? Please give me feedback…My boyfriend might be reading this for hints.
In other news, I am happy to announce that the search is over…We have a DJ! After months of looking, we have found “the one.” Recently it dawned on me that prom is approaching quite fast and in all the business of planning it for my class, I forgot that I need to buy a dress for myself! I am a thorough shopper, so dress shopping is kind of a long process, but well worth it. There are just so many choices!
By next week, the suspense will be over and you will know the location of prom! I’m going to share the “Big Reveal” video right here on my blog!
