Prom Is Two Weeks Away! [Amber] March 4, 2008
Have you ever thought you were finished with something, but then you turn around and there are 1,000 more items on your to-do list? Well, that is my situation now. With prom in less than 10 days, I feel like my job as class president is never over. Our tickets for prom are finally in from the printer, and now we have to deliver them to more than 500 students in my high school!! It is a lot harder than it sounds. High schoolers are always on the go.
One thing that I never realized is how much limos cost. If there is one piece of advice I can give girls having prom later in the spring it is START YOUR SEARCH NOW. That includes dinner reservations and everything. I got lucky because my best friend’s dad has connections with a company.
As I have said before, I have a date (my boyfriend) and I have a dress. I finally have shoes! I am absolutely in love with them and they go PERFECTLY with my dress. It was match made in mall heaven. I will show the pictures as soon as possible.
It almost scares me that prom is so close. I barely know what to do with myself. Now that prom is literally right around the corner, I will keep everybody updated because next Saturday, March 15, I am going to the prom that I planned!

He Asked Me! [Amber] February 22, 2008
My boyfriend finally asked me to prom…on his birthday last week! He was so romantic. My boyfriend and I are both in the marching band. On one of the side rooms where we practice, he spelled out the words “Will you go to prom with…” in rose petals! At the end, he was standing there! I was excited and happy, because he totally caught me off guard.
And I decided on my prom dress! I’m going with the green dress because the color reminded me of spring and prom is in the spring, so it makes sense. I am going accessory shopping this week because now there is less than a month until my prom. I’m going to print out this article on MyPromStyle.com for my boyfriend — it gives a guy advice on picking out a corsage. I read it and it was very helpful.
There’s more! My friend and I thought that cosmic bowling after prom would be a ton of fun. We don’t want to end the party just because the dancing is over. It’s safe, fun and I get to show off my lack of bowling skills.
Oh, and I did decide to go with the DJ I mentioned in my last post. He’s better and works cheaper, so I couldn’t beat that at all.
Although everything is going well, there is one missing piece: Finding an affordable limo that can seat at least 14 people. Have you guys had any luck finding your limo?

Waiting for Him to Ask [Amber] February 4, 2008
My boyfriend has yet to ask me to prom, so the question still remains: When will it happen? Even my history teacher is asking me if it’s happened yet, not to mention all my friends! I honestly do not know…maybe Valentine’s Day?
In other prom news, remember about three weeks ago when I wrote that I found a DJ? Well, I think I might have changed my mind. A DJ dropped his CD off at my school and it was good…better yet, his rates are cheaper. Lucky us! Does your school have the same DJ every year or do you like to find new ones too?
Next on my prom to-do list is buying shoes and accessories. That is the fun part! I decided on the green dress. Also, Valentine’s Day is next week as well as my boyfriend’s birthday. I have some shopping to do this weekend. YAY!

My Two Dresses [Amber] January 30, 2008
Unlike many of you, my prom isn’t in May…it’s in March! There are about 40 days left to get ready!
Now that the reveal is done, prom is what everybody is talking about. Everybody is getting asked and trying to figure out what dress to wear. I love prom season. It’s fabulous! The entire build-up to prom is just a great feeling, stressful sometimes, but great.
Rumor has it that my boyfriend is going to ask me in his own cute way, and he has a specific date in mind. I can’t wait to tell you how he does it! Also, I think I might have found the perfect dress, actually dresses. My mom and I were just browsing promgirl.com, when we saw this gold dress that we both liked, something that rarely happens.
We did not want to let it go, because it was my size and I really loved it. Then we saw this green one, in a similar style, that my mom really liked.
We ended up ordering both. We are indecisive when it comes to things like dresses (you can never have too many, right?). It feels so early to be buying a dress, but then I realize I only have five more weekends until prom.
I am lucky that my best friend and I have already figured out the limo situation. We still have to decide on dinner and post-prom plans. I want to do something after prom that is safe and fun. If you have any ideas, please let me know!
The best thing about prom is I know it is going to be good, because either myself or my student council advisory board planned every detail! I don’t really have any worries except for the normal stresses of school, like papers and exams, but I can handle that. Thanks for all of your advice and help. I will be sure to keep you updated!

The Big Reveal! [Amber] January 23, 2008
We had our big basketball homecoming pep rally on Friday, and that is where we did our prom reveal. Everyone was dying to know where our junior prom would be. The location is….drum roll please….The Fabulous Fox Theatre in Downtown Atlanta!! It is going to be absolutely amazing and gorgeous — this is the ballroom where we’ll all be dancing the night away! (Photo Credit: Michael Portman) I’ll try to get the “Big Reveal” video we played for everyone posted soon. Now it’s time to sell tickets, which should not be a huge deal because everybody who is anybody wants to go to prom.

The search for my dress is really on now. On top of picking out a dress, I also have to pick out my boyfriend’s birthday present because his birthday is right before Valentine’s Day. If you have any suggestions, I am open!
Thanks for all the comments to my last post, because I think my boyfriend might have gotten the hint. If he does ask me to prom in a sweet way, I’ll share the details with you!

My Boyfriend Question [Amber] January 14, 2008
Question for you all: I have a boyfriend, and I know he is going to be my date, but does that mean he should still ask me? I am old-fashioned and I like the cute ways guys ask girls to prom. But since I already have an automatic date, does that mean it’s not really necessary? Please give me feedback…My boyfriend might be reading this for hints.
In other news, I am happy to announce that the search is over…We have a DJ! After months of looking, we have found “the one.” Recently it dawned on me that prom is approaching quite fast and in all the business of planning it for my class, I forgot that I need to buy a dress for myself! I am a thorough shopper, so dress shopping is kind of a long process, but well worth it. There are just so many choices!
By next week, the suspense will be over and you will know the location of prom! I’m going to share the “Big Reveal” video right here on my blog!

Searching for a DJ [Amber] January 7, 2008
While most girls are starting to search for dresses, I’m searching for a DJ for the prom. Although it is going pretty smoothly, it stresses me out knowing that if the DJ isn’t that great, the prom won’t be as fun. I guess it’s good that I perform better under pressure. Do you have any advice for me? What kind of songs do you love to dance to?
The biggest project I’m working on right now is the big reveal! At my school, the location of prom is supposed to be a big secret (though it hardly ever stays that way). To announce the location, we make this video and it’s kind of a big deal. As soon as my school finds out the fabulous location of prom, you guys will as well! I’m going to post the video right here on my blog. I am more excited than ever!
Until next time,
Amber

Hi, I’m Amber, Junior Class President [Amber] December 18, 2007
Hey everybody, welcome to my world of PROM! My name is Amber and I am your average high school girl. This blog is going to document the fun, crazy, exciting, and sometimes stressful journey to prom. I live in Marietta, Georgia and I am the junior class president at my school. Just like many other teenage girls, I love my friends and hanging out with them. I love shopping, clothes, and fashion, but I would not go as far as labeling myself as a fashionista.
My being president adds an extra twist to this blog because it is the junior class’ responsibility to plan prom, which means my fellow officers and myself are in charge of prom. Everybody enjoys going to prom and dancing, but not everybody knows the work going on behind the scenes before the big night.
All of you will read about the stresses and pleasures of planning prom. The road to prom is going to be a bit of a journey, but I know the time will fly by before I know it!
What makes this both exciting and nerve-wrecking is I have never been to prom before. I cannot wait until the big day. The countdown has already begun and on March 15 of 2008, Wheeler High School will have an absolutely fabulous prom!
