Ultimate Prom - Face the Judging Panel in Episode 8! June 3, 2009
In The Ultimate Prom reality series, you watched three very talented high school seniors bring prom dress sketches to life. Their school won a prom concert by Universal Motown artists, and they get the chance of a lifetime: to design the dress singer Kat DeLuna will wear on the red carpet! Photos will be taken by paparazzi and be seen everywhere!
See the three finalists present their final dresses to the judges’ panel in Episode 8 below, and then vote right here. You will help determine the winner, revealed this Friday! Who knows … if she makes it as a famous designer like Betsey Johnson or Donna Karan, maybe you’ll be wearing her dresses someday too!
Tweeting live from the Ultimate Prom red carpet and concert on Friday! June 1, 2009
Hey, we’re Ali and Anna, your BFF Prom Queen correspondents for the Ultimate Prom!
We are so excited, and we cannot wait for our Ultimate Prom adventure this Friday! We will be tweeting our play-by-play experience on the red carpet, so make sure you follow us on Twitter to receive updates!
Like any girl, Maranda (from Georgia) started browsing for her prom dress 3 years before the event. Except rather than pick out a style or color for her dress, she picked out a craft: making a dress from soda can tabs!
Check out photos of Maranda’s dress here, on wsbtv.com. I’m impressed by the looks of it — but can you imagine sitting down for dinner in it? Ouch! The story reminds me a bit of the duct tape prom dresses…would you rather wear a duct tape dress or a soda can tab dress? Haha, well I’d rather wear Jovani or Betsey Johnson, personally, but if I had to choose between the two — soda can tabs!
When this songstress, who came to fame playing singer Mia on “One Tree Hill,” dropped by the Seventeen office, we asked her to tell us about her prom. She has the best story! Watch the video below to find out what made Kate’s prom so special! She can thank her date for it.
Don’t forget to download the hits from Kate’s new album, “A Fine Mess,” available on her site, www.katevoegele.com, now!
Gushing Over the Gossip Girl Prom Dresses May 20, 2009
Prom is so close for most of you, but our friends from the Upper East Side celebrated prom two weeks ago. I’m talking about Gossip Girl, of course. If you missed the “Valley Girls” prom episode, you can watch it on CWTV.com now. The dresses were to die for!
Blair wore a black silk tulle ball gown with gold feather appliques by Marquesa. This dress resembles the white dress that Audrey Hepburn wore in the movie Sabrina — we all know Blair is a big fan of hers. However, one of the best things about this dress is that Chuck got it for her. Don’t you wish guys in real life did that too?
After Dan rescues her at the police station, Serena shows up at prom wearing a sparkling pink Christian Dior halter gown. Her long loose curls add breezy vibes to her elegant outfit. Dan and Serena looked so good together that it made me jealous!
Whose prom dress was prettier? Serena or Blair? Cast your vote in the comments!
Last week, it seemed like Havanna might be in the lead. Kat loved the elegant black and gold gown she sketched and mocked up for her. But when Havanna places her dress order, something goes wrong! Will it set her behind Larissa and Laquasia?
The pressure only continues to grow, so before the girls totally break down, their music mentor Tina Parol takes them for a surprise field trip, to remind them why they’re working so hard — find out which famous designer they’re going to meet! Go to the Ultimate Prom player now!
Could you imagine what would happen if a singer-songwriter like Katy Perry or Taylor Swift asked a guy to prom and he said no? I think they would do a music video kinda like this one that Converse created for fun. Watch “You Said No to Prom” and let us know what you think!
I love that the girl had the guts to ask the guy to prom — and maybe it’s better he said “no” to prom…he doesn’t sound like the ideal date, with bad breath and weird Internet habits. Why would she ask him in the first place?
Who are you going to prom with? Is it the guy you initially thought would be your date? If not, remember, sometimes things happen for a reason! You’re probably better off.
If you need last-minute advice on your prom date situation, don’t forget you can ask girls 24/7 for advice at seventeen.com/ask.
Episode 6 of the Ultimate Prom Reality Series May 6, 2009
Tune in today to watch Kat DeLuna tell the contestants what she really thinks about the prom dresses they’re making for her (she performs at their prom in a month!) She’s not happy with the fabrics Larissa and Laquasia have chosen. Does this give Havanna a leg up on the competition? Plus, find out what happened to Larissa, who was MIA in the last episode!
If you want to get a sneak preview of Kat’s prom performance, download her hot new single “Dance Bailalo” – the follow-up to sizzling summer dance number “Whine Up” — on iTunes today! Not sure how to color your eyelids for prom? Your best bet is to pick out a quad or trio eyeshadow kit — the shades come already color-coordinated for you.
Here are two fun kits BonneBell created especially for prom season, Dance Party (left) and Prom Queen (right), that retail for $3.95.
These quads are perfect for a girl like Larissa, a fashionista in our Ultimate Prom reality series, who likes really colorful eyelids — see for yourself in Episode 6!
But for most of us, natural palettes with brown/plum shades feel most comfortable. Here are two in my makeup bag, by BonneBell and Clinique (click images if interested in buying):
These kits are easy to apply — it’s all about mastering the blend. Here are some tips to get you started:
First step, apply a primer so the pigment doesn’t crease on your lids. I swear by Too Faced’s Shadow Insurance ($17 but it’s flawless!).
Next, remember that you want to start light and go darker. Apply the lightest shade in the palette, or a neutral shade you already have, across your lid first. Then, brush a deeper shade across the lid, up to the crease, for the main color. When brushing eyeshadow on, sweep from the corner of the eye outward. To highlight, brush a light shade across your brow bone. When you’re finished, you can use a blush brush to blend the colors together more naturally.
And don’t forget this secret of all makeup artists: A dot of white shadow or pencil on the inside of the eye, near the tear duct, makes eyes look brighter.
You’ve got one teeny handbag and lots of little things to carry around on prom night — what is essential to cram inside your clutch? Achelle, the creative director of e.l.f. Cosmetics, has helped many a celebrity prepare for the red carpet, and she says this is all you need. Easy!
1. Oil blotting pads — so you’re not shiny in pictures
